Regular, cumulative FPS drops - Player component

Hi Chris,

I have a strange FPS degrading issue.

When I make one of my mecanim characters into an official AC player (using the wizard), they start to have a cumulative framerate reduction on the scene?

For example FPS in this tester scene starts around 250fps but if you leave it running, you start to see these spikes in the profiler at regular pulses. Over the course of around a minute or 2 it ends up down at 40fps and continues to drop.

I see no debug errors in the console, if I turn off the player component on the character before I start the scene the issue disappears.

The only item in the hierarchy showing a high load on that spike is garbage collection (I think), but I'm no expert with the profiler.

As always, any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

  • v1.74.3 included performance improvements. Try the latest release, in a backup/duplicate project.

If there's still an issue, run a Deep Profile using the Profiler, click the spike, and then drill down from the foldout below to locate the source of the issue - you can share screens here showing your findings.

  • Thanks Chris, I'll try an update tonight.

Bizarrely, the problem seemed to go away when I closed an empty action list editor window on my second monitor??

Problem is I've been trying so many things I've lost track.

I'll do an update to the very latest version I think, having read some of the great additions in 1.75. (after a backup)

    Cheers
