Posible bug? Custom animation "looping" to 1st frame before it continues.

Hope you are having a great day

I didn't notice earlier that at some point (I think after upgrading AC to v. 1.76.0, which has '''Fixed: Animation playback issues with the “Character: Animate” and “Object: Animate” Actions’ “Play Custom” option''' on its changelog. I also updated to 1.76.1 immediately after, FYI) my custom animations started to present an error, consisting on, after having played all the animation frames, displaying the 1st frame one extra time.

Y tried updating AC and Unity LTS to the latest version but the issue persist.

Current AC version: 1.76.1.
Current Unity version: 2021.3.16f1 (LTS).
My OS: Mac OS High Sierra.

All builds made before AC's 1.76/1.76.1 versions were having correct animations, but now they have the error. In fact, it was working fine and I didn't change anything on animation but after the upgrades it started to happen.

It only happens when I trigger Character->Animate (Player or NPC) Method: Play Custom from any actionlist. I set the Custom animation to "Wait until finish" and UNcheck "Return to idle after" then "After running: Continue" in the action to perform other things.

Images and videos depicting the issue:

This is a Video of a Custom animation, where a Character starts (1st frame) with its hands folded, and the last frame the hands are separate (this is my custom animation):

Same example but in images:
1st custom animation frame (hands together):

Last custom animation frame (separate arms):

My Play Custom Animation Action:

A video showing a PREVIOUS game build with the animation playing correctly (hands start together, then separate, then character starts to walk down):

The provided example is just one, but all my custom animations present the same issue.

Thanks so much for any help with this!!

Comments

  • Thanks for the details.

Is your AnimationClip set to be non-looping, in its Inspector?

  • Hi, @ChrisIceBox thanks so much for your fast response. You're right, I had my animations with "Loop Time" checked, I just unchecked the box and now they work fine again!

Now I wonder how could they be working in the first place, haha

Thanks SO much once again.
