[2D] Sprites Unity Complex or Mechanim

edited September 2014 in Technical Q&A
I notice the mention in the manual of SPRITES UNITY COMPLEX.

I thought I had been using MECHANIM for my 2D animation control but I used the UNITY SPRITES tutorial to get it in there. I'm definitely using Mechanim custom animations for object movements.

Have I made a ludicrous mix of modes or is the difference unimportant?

Would the better approach be to use the S-U-C method with numerically defined directions?

Things appear to work how I've done them. Well, for now :)

  • The standard AC Unity sprites method also uses Mechanim, at least that's how I'm using it, much the same as you. It seems a little weird, but as long as you put sprite renderers on your characters and animate them using clips you put in a mechanim animator I think you're doing it right :)
  • Cool. Yeah I think that's what I'm doing...

I had a little go today actually setting the sprite player animation type to "Mechanim" and quickly set it back again,..yeah it's not the way to do it for 2D :)
