Animated NPC sinks down before walking

I have an animated NPC who follows a circular route using waypoints.  The problem is that for the first few steps the NPC sinks down and then walks half buried in the ground.  Can anyone suggest a way to stop this?

  • You'll need to provide a lot more detail.  AC and Unity version numbers, first of all.

    What is the character's animation engine?  Are they using Root Motion?  Are you baking the Y position of your character into the animation?  Do they have a collider that's passing through the floor?  Are the Path points on the ground or beneath it?

    Please provide all relevent screenshots so that we can see what's going on.
  • Thanks for the suggestions Chris - the waypoints were just below the ground.  I moved them up and the problem is solved.  Thank you
