Player layer

edited September 2014 in Technical Q&A
The docs state that the Player should be placed in the Ignore Raycast layer. Can anyone shed some light on why this is important? The reason I'm asking is that I need my characters (including the Player character) on a different layer and I have to know what am I getting into.

  • It's so that mouse clicks "see through" the player.  However, you can change what AC deems to be this layer within the Settings Manager.  Just change the "Deactivated" layer name to whatever you like.
  • Thanks!

But will mouse clicks still "see through" the player if the player is on some custom layer?
  • The mouse clicks don't ignore layers, so much as only register on the defined "Hotspot" layer.  So long as this is different from your "Deactivated" layer, you should be fine.
  • Ok, I'll try that.

    Thanks!
