CITH combined with Dragging Inventory

Hi,

We're running into an issue. We have the "click interaction then hotspot" mode active, as well as a drag and drop inventory.

Clicking on interactions and then hotspots in the scene works ok, and so does clicking on interactions and the inventory items (e.g. to look at inventory items). We also intend for the player to be able to drag inventory items to the scene, in order to use inventory items on hotspots. However, while the dragging works initially, it no longer works after choosing any interaction in the interaction menu.

We understand how it might not work since, for instance, if you click on "look" and then on an inventory item, then it would do the "look" action on that inventory item and not be in "dragging inventory" mode. However, even after having run the look action, dragging the inventory continues not to work from that point onward, the drag is no longer initiated on inventory items.

What would be the best way to solve this? Do we need an interaction in the interaction menu that puts the inventory back in "dragging mode"? Or is there any way to always have the inventory in "dragging mode" as long as no interaction is currently selected (highlighted) in the interaction menu?

  • "Dragging mode" is just regular item selection, i.e. attaching the item to the cursor, and not running an item's interaction.

Have you got Select item if Interaction is unhandled? checked in your Settings Manager's Inventory settings?  That allows you to auto-select/drag an item when you're in a particular cursor mode that has no interaction associated with the item.

If that doesn't solve it, please share your AC / Unity version numbers, as well as shots of your Settings Manager and a list of steps to recreate the problem.
