I have them working together on a very basic level, by creating a game with a movement method of None rather than First Person, and adding a Hotspot Detector as a child of the character's chest bone. Using this, I can interact with Hotspots and perform actions.
Of course, not everything works. You can't restrict player movement, move along a path, move through actions, teleport or switch players. So no conversations or cutscenes can be done. I'll look into whether Dialogue System can help out in this regard though.
The basic principles of restricting movement etc is common to most controller integrations - see the wiki's integration for Unity's First Person controller, for example. The principles should be transferrable.
