Translate Speech from custom ActionList parameters

Hi Chris:)

I decided to create custom ActionLists to speed up my work in AC and to make other ActionLists shorter and cleaner. As example, for player speeches, I've created ActionList called CharacterSpeech which consist of multiple skippable Dialogue Speeches set in parameters. So now, if I have long speech, I don't need to use a bunch of Dialogue Speeches, instead I can use just one custom ActionList, which has multiple lines. This is really cool because I can just run it and put big speech in separate lines and have shorter ActionList structure. I hope that is clear, here are screenshots.

But the problem is that translator cannot see speeches in such custom ActionList. Is there a way to translate this? Or I have back to standard practice and use bunch of Dialogue Speeches for every Speech?

Or maybe there is a way how to put one large speech in one Dialogue Speeches action but somehow separate it on different skippable lines?

Comments

  • Parameter text cannot be translated, or more importantly, assigned speech audio, lipsyncing etc. This is because AC can't tell that such text will ultimately be used in a speech Action.

You can use carriage returns to separate lines in a single Action, however - just check Treat carriage returns as separate speech lines? in the Speech Manager.
