Well, changing the cursor texture with scripting is kinda simple. Maybe a custom action to change it on the fly could work? Or what exactly do you have in mind? Like only to be able to change between the textures already setup in the cursor manager?
Sure, perhaps a custom code would get the job done, but it might be a handy thing to have as part of the standard pack. I mostly would like to easily switch between pickup, use, talk, or inventory items as the cursor through the action list. But perhaps as you say simply the option is to make your own custom action list for such a thing.
Inventory items can be automatically selected with the Inventory: Select Action.
Changing the cursor is more complicated, however, due to the wide array of possible play styles and interface options. Such an Action may work for one combination, but not others - which would create confusion.
