Slowdown when moving between scenes after 1.47 upgrade

I just upgraded to the latest AC version, and I noticed a fairly dramatic drop in framerate after walking between scenes. It starts out nice and smooth and gets gradually slower as I move from scene to scene.

What are the best ways to debug these kind of issues? Are there any reasons AC 1.47 should cause these kinds of problems?

    It seems like a framerate script made the game noticeably more stuttery when set to 30 fps. I'll investigate more, but consider this solved :)
