Switching between different Characters

Is it possible to switch between different characters with different skills like in Gobliiins? I know that it is possible to change the player model - but I couldn't find anything on switching between characters.

Ok, so I read through the tutorial and saw, that the inactive character disappears or can be replaced by an NPC. So I could simply replace the current character with the same model, only as NPC. 

But will the NPC know e.g. in which direction to look so the player won't even notice the switch of models? Same goes for the new player which replaces an NPC...

Sorr for asking, but I cannot access my Unity at the moment to try it out...

Depending on the option you choose, yes - it's designed to be seamless.
