Game Camera Constraint Problem

edited June 2014 in Technical Q&A
Hi Chris:

I was working through tutorial 4 and I noticed that clicking the "Constrain" button in the X Axis Movement option causes a game camera position alteration:

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

  • Your video doesn't show the co-ordinates of the camera's position, but I'm guessing that this is because the camera was outside of the constrained boundaries before you clicked Constrain.  If it's out of the limit, then constraining it will cause it to move to within the limit.
  • Thank you - it's as I said.  When unconstrained, the Camera's x-position is negative.  But the minimum constrain you set it is zero: so it'll move up the X-axis until it reaches zero.

This feature is to make sure that the camera doesn't clip through geometry when following the player.  To get the camera to appear closer when constrained, lower the Minimum field in the Inspector.
  • Ah! I see.

Thanks for your patience with us newbies.
