Custom clips need manually typing

This happens whenever I make and want to apply a custom anim on an object or the player. (2D as it happens)

What I mean is I can't simply drag the anim from my project window or select it from a list. I always have to double check my exact anim clip name and manually enter it in the box in the event in Inspector.

Is this normal or am I overlooking a better way?

  • Normal procedure, if you're using the Unity Sprites animation engine.  Might not be totally ideal, but for technical reasons this is the way it's done.
  • Ah, good. So long as I haven't got a glitch or mistakenly missing a point of practice.

    It DOES mean I want to be making my animation clip names much easier to remember/type :)
