Characters turn black? why? material/light problem

Hello. When I first time load the scene, characters look just fine. Like this.

But! After I exit the scene and go back, It looks like this:

So! Why does that happen? How I can solve this problem? I want characters look always bright like in first picture.

Are those 3D characters? if they're 3D, this might be an issue with light baking (needed for both realtime and static lightening). You'll want to take a look at your scene's light baking settings, and make sure you actually save after Unity has generated the light maps. Also un-tick "autogenerate" so Unity doesn't try to rebake the lightmaps every time you move something in the scene.

I'm still not too experienced with 2D lightening though, so, if they are 2D, we should probably wait for someone with more 2D experience to pitch in.
  • Indeed - this is a common behaviour of Unity's lighting system.  You need to disable the automatic option at the bottom of Unity's Lighting window, which you can access from the top toolbar.
  • Thank you very much for the answers :-) I'm sure things will work now!
